Postpartum Hemorrhoids

How to Use Eggplants The Wright Way?

by Paula

Eggplants are a natural remedy for postpartum hemorrhoids and they are also safe for breastfeeding.

The first time around I didn't know how to properly use the eggplant.

Don't make the same mistakes I did!

After I arrived home from the maternity hospital, my postpartum hemorrhoids started to give me trouble. I instructed Marius, my husband, to search for a hemorrhoid cream, suitable for breastfeeding women.

He bought a Marigold & Chamomile ointment. The shopkeeper at the herbal store also said to him that eggplants are very good for postpartum hemorrhoids and are safe for breastfeeding.

As this happened in September, I found eggplants at a nearby farmer's market so I tried this natural treatment immediately.

The first time around I didn't know how to properly use the eggplant, so I figured I cut slices and put them on the hemorrhoids. Apparently it was the wrong way to do it :)

Actually, there are at least 4 ways to use an eggplant for postpartum hemorrhoids:

#1 Eggplant infusion

  • Wash the eggplant;
  • Make a longitudinal cut, then cut each piece in half , so you have 4 pieces;
  • Boil them in 4 cups of water until the pieces are well softened.

Drink a glass of this infusion 3 times a day. Make this tea daily or every two days, and keep it in the refrigerator. The treatment should last 3-5 days.

#2 Eggplant poultice

This method was the most uncomfortable to me. Plus, I did it the wrong way the first time :).

The recommended way to do it is to use the boiled pieces of the eggplant (see the recipe above) like this:

  • Put a towel on a chair;
  • Place a piece of the boiled eggplant on the towel;
  • Sit on the towel for 15-20 minutes so that hemorrhoids come in contact with the eggplant. The eggplant must have room temperature.

#3 Eggplant leaves cataplasm

Crush slightly the eggplant leaves and apply them locally. They have anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

Apply the cataplasm 3 times a day using a bandage and a patch.

#4 Eat eggplants for constipation

Constipation after delivery makes postpartum hemorrhoids even more painful.

The eggplant comes to the rescue again. It has a lot of fibers, which are best in eliminating faeces. Fibers sweep the intestinal walls and collect a large amount of waste food which they help eliminate naturally and softly.

Eggplant is also an effective natural laxative.
