Passing Kidney Stones with Parsley

by Fkhalili
(Muscat, Oman)

I had my first kidney stone 20 years ago and it was only 3 mm. I got rid of it by drinking a big bottle of water right in the clinic.

About 5 years ago, I had another one 4.5 mm and I tried all kinds of tricks, including drinking lots of water regularly, and all kinds of medication, including Indian herbal natural medicine, but nothing worked. The doctor told me it was too small to shoot it with Laser, so we have to wait.

However, last year I had a new one 4 mm in the other kidney, while the first one grew to be 6.5 mm. I was kind of waiting for them to grow larger so that they can be broken down with Laser or something.

Two weeks ago, I received an email from a friend, telling me about using Parsley for cleaning kidneys. I thought, "This is easy".

In two days, I had the big stone off and down in the pipe, just about 10 mm away from the bladder. I got it scanned and found that it is a little smaller than its original size, but too large to come out by itself.

I am working on getting it down and out by using the warm water and the Jumping method. Hopefully it will work. I think I will continue using parsley until my kidneys are absolutely clean.

Hello Fkhalili,

Thank you for sharing this herbal remedy for kidney stones.

Fresh parsley is a great source of vitamin C, vitamin B-6, magnesium and potassium. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) can dissolve and prevent Calcium phosphate stones.

Did you take parsley as an infusion or as juice? How often did you take it?

It is also interesting to know what kind of stones did you have - Calcium phosphate, Magnesium ammonium phosphate or Uric acid (urate) stone.

Shepherd's Purse and Dandelion are other herbs you can try to relax and dilate the urethra, so that the stones pass more easily.

Drink 3 cups of Shepherd's Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) tea per day, half hour before main meals, or two hours after. Use the same recipe for dandelion.

You may want to read the article Why don't your herbal remedies for kidney stones work. It describes a four-step system to break or dissolve the stones and to relieve the inflammation and soothe the burns and cramps.

Thank you again for sharing.

ME Tabbouleh
by: fkhalili

Sorry to have taken so long to answer your question, as i was out of station and didn't check my personal email.

I soak burgul in Lemon Juice for half an hour before adding it to the Tabbouleh. this is because I like crunchy. You can soak it longer if you like it soft.

We don't eat bread with Tabbouleh because it has the crushed wheat in it (Burgul). In fact some people eat Tabbouleh by itself, or with lettuce leaves, as a snack.

Tabbouleh
by: Marius

Hy Fkhalili,

I am very grateful for your pointers.

It seems I did all the mistakes you have mentioned :)

For the second salad, I used tomatoes with less juice, but I soaked the burgul overnight and, apparently, I used a bit to much lemon juice.

Still, it was better than the first one. With your help, the third one will be a smashing success :)

My Burgul is medium crushed. I think it will need a quite a bit of lemon juice to soak.

Do you eat the salad plain or with bread? I like to eat a lot of bread with salads (excessively).

Tabbouleh
by: Fkhalili

Dear Marius,

Tabbouleh is not made in all the ME countries. I think it is originally Lebanese, but the Palestinians and Syrians make it as good. To make your Tabbouleh look and taste as a professional, you should choose hard Tomato, and not much of it, and cut the ingredients, especially the Parsley, really fine (smaller than what I see in the Recipe you found, then you should drain the parsley really well, and not soak Burgul (the crushed wheat) in water, as many do. It is better soaked in the lemon juice that you are going to add, so that you don't have any water in your Tabbouleh and your left over can be kept, looking fresh, for another day in the fridge. For the same purpose, you should add salt only on the quantity you are going to eat immediately, and leave the rest of it unsalted till you decide to eat it.

It is important to add the right amount of Limon Juice and Olive Oil, and if you like hot chili, you can add one or two well chopped green chilis and enjoy.

Tabbouleh
by: Marius

I made my first tabbouleh salad this morning. It's quite yummy despite me having done a couple of mistakes.

My tomatoes were very juicy and I didn't drained them. Also, I put too much lemon juice. I was afraid of the parsley taste and I didn't overdo it.

I have drained the salad after the fact, but it still looks a little mushy.

Next time I will be a tabbouleh expert :)

Tabbouleh (Parsley salad)
by: Marius

Tabbouleh looks great, Fkhalili.

I found this recipe online which is very descriptive and has photos.

I have a lot of fresh parsley and tomatoes from my mother's garden, so it looks Paula and I will have Tabbouleh tonight :)

And, like you said, this is a tasty way to keep kidney stones away.

Parsley Taste
by: Anonymous

Well, the water of the boiled Parsley didn't taste great, but it was OK. I don't recommend mixing it with any Fruit Juice, because it should be given the chance to act on its own in your system, and in an empty stomache.

I wish I knew about it earlier, before I swallowed all those pills, which didn't work for me.

I believe that adding parsley to our Salad regularly would provide the daily cleanup for our kidneys. In addition, now I make sure to have some of the Middle East Parsley Salad (Tabbouleh)whenever I have a chance.

Parsley tea or parsley juice
by: Marius

Hello Fkhalili,

I am glad that parsley worked so well, and thank you again for your detailed response.

I was worried that parsley would have an unbearable taste.

I made once some parsley juice with a wheatgrass juicer and it tasted awful. I felt bad all night. I guess I could have drunk it, if I dilute it with apple juice and orange juice.

How did parsley infusion taste?

Good News
by: Fkhalili

Marius's, I cut the Parsley really fine. I used the Salad Machine for that. Then I boiled it for 10 minutes, I left it to cool, and then I filtered it and kept it in the fridge in glass bottles. I had a a glass of it first thing in the morning for one week now.

However, the Good News is; I woke up early this morning and I passed the large stone (around 6mm) with the first pee, and I felt that there were more stones in my tank, but didn't have enough fluid to push them out. So, I had three large glasses of warm water and in 20 minutes they came right out. I got rid of all three stones in one week.

This afternoon i paid a visit to my urologist and with an ultrasound he confirmed that my system were absolutely clean.
