Constipation in Children
By PaulaAvoid constipation in children with a proper diet.
If it happens (Roxana, my daughter, gets it frequently when she doesn’t eat fruits or soup), the child must eat fruits and vegetables wich contain lots of water (melon, cucumber, tomato).
It is necessary a very good hydration - lots of water, juices, compotes, tea (I usually make camomile and marigold tea) to avoid constipation in children. Also you need foods wich contain more fiber like cereal, prunes, figs, apricots, spinach and fruits - pears, apples, plums, grapes, cherries or carrot juice. If my daughter doesn’t want to eat fruits I make her fruit juice. A mommy friend told me her daughter, about 8-9 months old, she pooped only after she sucked the juice from a few slices of orange. Another story I know is with a colleague from college who got a chronic constipation from a case of hepatitis in her childhood. She ate bran with her meals to help her digestion. Also chicory give good results in regulating digestion and obesity. (Maria Treben - Health Through God's Pharmacy). Make exercise outdoors – put your body to work! Fortunately, we never got to laxatives. I remember a doctor saying in a book: "If you use more laxatives, the constipation will become worse!". Also avoid often use of glycerine suppository as the intestine will become laisy and espect to be helped always.
