4 Herbal Remedies for Biliary Dyskinesia

Herbal remedies can help in biliary dyskinesia by stimulating bile secretion in the liver cell (choleretic action) and contraction of the gallbladder in order to eliminate the bile in the duodenum (cholagogue action).

Hypotonic biliary dyskinesia (lazy gallbladder) occures when the bladder increases in volume due to its inability to contract. The bile accrues in excess within the lazy bladder.

Biliary dyskinesia diet

Diet has a great importance in this disease and, sometimes, hygieno-dietary regimen alone can restore digestive balance. You need a diet to protect the liver and gallbladder - that is permitted foods for biliary dyskinesia and especially their preparation.

Foods to avoid

  • You must avoid meat, especially fat meat, and fatty fruits (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts).
  • Also you must exclude from your diet canned foods, sausages, smoked foods, animal fats, cabbage, dry beans, french fries, spicy foods (pepper, paprika, mustard).
  • It is not permitted to eat fatty sauces, fried onion.
  • Milk is not tolerated by the gall bladder.

It is of great importance the way you prepare the food. It is recommended that you boil, bake or roast instead of frying with oil.

You must eat at regular hours and, for an effective bile drainage, is indicated that you sit for 30 minutes lying on your right side after lunch.

Permitted foods

  • Strong cholecystokinetic foods (which stimulates gallbladder contraction) such as sower cream, eggs, butter, can be consumed in small amounts depending on individual tolerance.
  • You can eat raw salads.

Black radish juice - they have a choleretic and a cholagogue action and fluidify the bile. The treatment lasts for 3 weeks and it is very useful for bile drainage. Repeat 2 times a year.

Grapefruit juice - 2-3 cups a day for 30 days. Repeat 2-3 times a year. Grapefruit is a regulator of bile secretion and evacuation.

Celery (cholagogue action). Drink 1 cup of infusion after each meal (1 teaspoon of leaves in 1 cup of boiling water).

Dog rose fruits (Rosa canina) stimulate secretion of bile by increasing diuresis and eliminating toxins from the liver.
